WIND SPEED OF "200KM" TO HIT BRUNEI IS FALSE

The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department would like to inform the public that the following
information that has been disseminated around through Whatsapp application and social media this
afternoon is not true for Brunei Darussalam:

"Malam ani angin d jangka sekuat 200 km akan melanda brunei, sma2 kta ne berdoa agar d jauh kan dri segala musibah.."

For information, Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Inter-Monsoon period. Normally during this
period, the rain and thunderstorm activities are increased and can be occasionally heavy at times. Wind
speed near thunderstorm can reach up to 50-60 km/h.

Meanwhile, weather forecast for Brunei Darussalam for this evening is expected to be gusty showers,
thundery at times and occasionally move from sea to land areas with wind speed between 10-25 km/h
but can be gusting up to 50 km/h in heavy showers.

We would like to urge the general public not to disseminate further the unverified information above
through the social media as it can cause anxiety and panic to members of the general public.
We will closely continue to monitor the weather conditions, and shall issue advisory and weather
warning whenever necessary. We would like to advise the public to follow the latest weather
