Brunei Darussalam Monsoon Situation
Brunei Darussalam is currently towards the end of Southwest Monsoon period, where southwesterly wind surge is still dominant with stable atmospheric conditions.
However, our weather conditions for the last few days were active due to the indirect influence of typhoon systems affecting areas over the Northwest of the Pacific Ocean.
Brunei Darussalam Weather Situation
Active weather conditions are forecasted to occur this week especially on the 22nd and 23rd September due to an active development of rain clouds and potentially causing occasional squally showers over our country.
Squally showers are expected to affect the country occasionally, especially over the sea areas and are likely to spread to the land areas. Wind speed may increase up to 50 km/h.
Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally slight, between 0.4 m to 1.0 m.
Our Advice
Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather condition. There is risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during continuous heavy rain and also during high tide. Risk of landslide and falling trees are also possible during heavy showers and gusty condition.
Public, road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take necessary actions to ensure safety.
